Regulatory
Our firm is not authorised under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000. However, in certain circumstances we are able to offer a limited range of investment services to clients because we are members of The Law Society. We can provide these investment services if they are an incidental part of the professional services we have been engaged to provide. We are authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulations Authority and a complaints and redress mechanism in respect of these services are provided through the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Legal Ombudsman. See our Complaints Procedure here.
Our firm is an ancillary insurance intermediary, so our insurance activity is limited in scope. We are not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). However, we are included on the register maintained by the FCA so that we may carry on insurance distribution activity, which is broadly the advising on, selling and administration of insurance contracts. This part of our business, including arrangements for complaints or redress if something goes wrong, is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. The register can be accessed via the FCA website (www.fca.org.uk/firms/financial-services-register).
If you are unhappy with our insurance activity, you should raise your concerns with the Solicitors Regulation Authority or Legal Ombudsman.
If you require commercial funding to pursue your matter, we may be able to refer you to a relevant provider (such as a litigation or probate funding provider specialist). This is only where this activity is incidental to the legal instructions we have from you. Our firm has no financial interest in nor obtains any benefit from any provider.
We can work with a number of providers if we have identified that their terms are generally acceptable to our clients and in relation to the obligations they place upon our firm. We do not assess any client’s suitability or eligibility for any loans. Our firm is not authorised by the FCA. As a result of being regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority we are authorised to assist with credit recommendations only in a limited sense. If you require detailed financial advice, we suggest you take advice from a suitably qualified and regulated financial adviser, who will assess your own circumstances and can advise on the whole lending market.
