Sabrina Underwood

Sabrina Underwood

Sabrina qualified as a Solicitor in 2013 and advises on a wide range of Private Client matters, including Wills and tax planning, probate and estate administration, trusts and Lasting Powers of Attorney.

She is experienced in drafting Wills and advising on tax and estate planning, both in a UK and cross-border context, often utilising inheritance tax reliefs such as Business Relief and Agricultural Property Relief. Sabrina administers a broad range of estates, including many that are complex and high-value, both for clients with a Will or obtaining Letters of Administration on intestacy.  She particularly enjoys the challenge of administering cross-border estates with assets or beneficiaries abroad, when she liaises with foreign advisers. She advises on Deeds of Variation of Wills and also acts as an Independent Administrator of estates.

Sabrina regularly creates life interest trusts and discretionary trusts for clients, and advises on distributing trust funds, and managing and winding trusts up. She has advised trustees and beneficiaries of a number of valuable and historic trusts, holding landed estates and businesses and collections of pictures and antiques. She is also knowledgeable on mental capacity and Lasting Powers of Attorney.

Sabrina has a particular interest in art and heritage law, drafting Wills or administering estates for clients in the arts, and she leads our specialist team advising on Arts, Entertainment and Talent.

Sabrina enjoys building a rapport with clients, who appreciate her empathetic and conscientious approach.  Sabrina primarily works in our London and Marlow offices, but regularly visits our Cotswolds office. She also visits clients at their homes in Surrey, particularly the Guildford and Woking area.

Sabrina read English at Bristol University, before completing the Law Conversion Course and Legal Practice Course. She trained at a Central London law firm, and then worked for ten years in their renowned Private Client team, before joining The Burnside Partnership in 2023.

She is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), having achieved a distinction in the STEP Diploma.  Sabrina was recognised in the Citywealth Leaders List 2025 (a ‘best of the best’ curated directory of industry stars, rising talents and leading companies in private client and wealth management) and in their list of the Top 40 Under 40 Private Client Lawyers 2024, as well as being included in eprivateclient’s Top 35 under 35 list of leading young private client advisers in 2017 and 2018.
