Bethan qualified as a Solicitor after 13 years as a tax and policy professional at HMRC. Bethan qualified as an Inspector of Income and Corporation Taxes, conducting, coordinating, and leading compliance checks into tax returns covering a diverse range of taxes including income tax, Capital Gains Tax, VAT and Corporation Tax. After a successful move into a technical specialist role, Bethan was promoted into the role of Head of Policy for High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs), at the heart of Government.
Following a move into the law, Bethan now specialises in Private Client, Tax and Property law, advising individuals, families and business owners on how to structure their estates to minimise their tax exposure and ensure their wealth is protected for future generations.
Bethan takes a holistic approach to drafting Wills, trust deeds, estate planning, and probate work, listening to clients and understanding their motivations and priorities. She can call upon a wealth of experience at HMRC to analyse clients’ entire estates, identifying business, pension, overseas and trust assets. She helps clients to consider their options and navigate complex tax and legal issues, building long-term solutions. She can also advise clients on dealing with HMRC compliance checks and correspondence.
Bethan is a member of The Association of Lifetime Lawyers. Lifetime Lawyers are considered the gold standard when supporting vulnerable and older people with legal advice.
Bethan advises on:
- Completing and submitting tax returns for individuals, businesses, estates and trusts,
- Dealing with HMRC compliance checks and enquiries,
- Responding to HMRC correspondence,
- Corresponding with overseas tax authorities.

· Creation, management, and cessation of all types of Trusts
· Trust administration, including fulfilling tax reporting requirements
· Estate administration, including applying for Probate & Letters of Administration
· Lifetime gifting to family and friends
· Tax and legal implications of joint property ownership, including drafting Declarations of Trust
· Preparing Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs)
Whilst Bethan is generally based in our Marlow office, she travels to our other offices regularly to advise clients and collaboration with colleagues.
